Everyone goes through a point in their lives when they face challenges. Sometimes, things can get so tough that you may want to give up. There is a point in everyone’s life when you may become manipulated by the thoughts of your fears, shortcomings, mistakes, and failures. No matter how hard we work throughout our lives to be a strong individual, we all may face this dilemma at some point. We may want to stop, brood, and sulk in the face of difficult challenges. However, difficult times cannot be our downfall!

Sometimes, these points in our lives may be sending us other messages than what is apparent!

Here are some ideas to consider from our team at Sheraton Caregivers:

  • Some points are lessons, like a comma that says we should rest, turn, and continue. When we keep going in our lives without a break, we tend to forget about taking care of ourselves. We forget the people around us. We may even forget to look at what is right in front of us. When the world is taking its toll, we should take this time to breathe and open our eyes to what we have. When we feel ready, then we can keep going. However, no matter what happens, we can always remember to stop, rest, and be thankful for what we have.
There are points, such as the exclamation point, where we must pause and inhale all the emotions that keep us alive. We can focus on whatever motivation keeps us fueled in all that we do. Keep your eyes on any goals you may have and keep going. Remember, we only fail at what we do if we stop, quit, and give up on our dreams!
  • Many people experience a point in their life when they are confused, lost, and empty. That point may include not knowing where to go, what to do, or who to turn to. That point when we may question ourselves and everything we have? That’s “a point” in our life when we should not question our worth – this may just bring us down even further! That question mark in our lives is when we can ask ourselves, “What adventure do I have in store for myself today?” Ask that, and we will know what to do.
  • We all always do our best to overcome any challenges and trials which appear in our lives, but we still may see a ‘semicolon’ in our lives. Do you know why? That is because everyone can learn how to stop pretending to be superheroes! No matter what adversity we overcome, we will ALWAYS need the warmth, love, and affection from our friends, family, and loved ones. Remember, we all need someone and we all need human connection. And, that is okay. Do not take life too seriously. Smile, laugh, cry, and shout. We see those forces in every person we love.
  • Period. What we may think is the end is not the end. This is the point you hardly ever leave. This full stop is nothing but an end to a sentence, and a start – a chance at something new, or something we’ve forgotten. This “point” in our life is a chance. It is a chance to do anything! A chance at a new and better beginning! It is a chance only we can take advantage of for ourselves. It is a chance we must always grant ourselves.

Always remember to live life with as much u-turns and “go” lights as possible. If you hit a dead end, create your own path.
